I love being a therapist. I also love teaching, mentoring, advocating for our field, normalizing mental health and seeking therapy because we all struggle, and we can all do with a bit of kindness and support. I am pro-choice. I feel it is essential to listen, and educate myself to be actively anti-racist.
My careeer in the mental health field began in 2010, working for the local mental health authority crisis center and its mobile community outreach team. During that time,I gained extensive knowledge in serious mental illness symptomology,diagnosies,crisis assessments, suicide asessments,self harm,psychosis,delirium, and case management .
I started working in private practice in 2014. During that time, I worked with adolescents,couples,families and individuals. In 2017 I opened my private practice Empoering You Counseling Services, LLC,in San Antonio, TX. www.empoweringyoucounselingservices.com.
I specialize in ADHD,Anxiety,Shame and Trauma. I am trauma informed and EMDR trained. My leading theory is Relational Cultural Theory (RCT), but often incorporate Narrative,Somatic, and CBT techniques.
During supervision, I wear multiple hats depending on what you need from me in the session—teacher, consultant, supporter. I care about the counseling field and about you growing into the best therapist you can be. I want to help you reach your professional goals while also ensuring you are surpassing your competencies. I aim for supervision to be laid back, supportive, humorous, challenging and to encourage a growth mindset.
