Meet Your LPC-Supervisor

Hi, I’m April.

I’m a LPC  Supervisor who is passionate about helping LPC Associates feel supported, capable, and confident in their work.

I know how overwhelming this stage can feel—and I’m here to walk alongside you as you grow into your role.

MY LPC SUPERVISION STYLE

During supervision, I  wear multiple hats depending on what you need from me in the session—

  • Consultant when you are stuck
  • Teacher when you need guidance
  • Supporter when you are overwhelmed
  • Cheerleader to cheer on your growth

My approach is supportive, collaborative, and growth-focused. You can expect:

  • A safe, non-judgmental space to ask questions and process cases

  • Honest, constructive feedback to help you grow

  • Real-world insight from experience in crisis and high-acuity settings

  • A balance of support + challenge to build your confidence

  • Encouragement as you find your own voice and style as a therapistThis isn’t “check-the-box” supervision—we’re doing meaningful work together.

EXPERIENCE

My career in mental health began in 2010 at a crisis center, where I provided both in-person and mobile outreach services. This experience built a strong clinical foundation, with a focus on crisis intervention, suicide risk assessment, and supporting individuals with complex mental health needs.

In 2014, I transitioned into private practice, working with adolescents, individuals, couples, and families. In 2017, I founded Empowering You Counseling Services, LLC in San Antonio, Texas. Building and growing my own practice has given me valuable insight into both clinical work and the realities of running a sustainable business—something I’m passionate about helping LPC Associates navigate.

As a supervisor, I strive to create a supportive and collaborative space where you can build confidence, develop your clinical voice, and feel empowered in your work. I specialize in ADHD, anxiety, shame, and trauma, and approach my work through a trauma-informed lens.

I am trained in EMDR (Levels 1 & 2) and primarily use Relational Cultural Theory (RCT), while also integrating CBT, Narrative, and somatic approaches.

I’m committed to helping you strengthen your clinical skills while also supporting you in becoming the therapist—and professional—you want to be.
